St John the Evangelist (Yardley, PA (USA)) Mission Statement: Empowered by the gifts of the Holy Spirit and transformed by the Eucharist into the Body of Christ, the people of Saint John the Evangelist Parish are called to be ambassadors of Christ. We strive to reach out and encourage others to join us in Christ’s Church. Then, together as one Catholic family, we live a reverent and active sacramental life, provide strong programs of religious education for youth and adults, embrace our apostolic mission of joyfully proclaiming the Gospel and generously share God’s gifts for the good of others.

The main focus of this page of my web site is to focus on the last part of St. John's mission statement:
share God's gifts for the good of others. The Knights of Columbus, Social Concerns Committee, and other ministries at St. John's are great examples of how to live our lives the way Jesus Christ did! When you click on the image of any organization on this page, you will be taken to the volunteer page of that organization's web site. Check out each one. Maybe you would like to help out with one of these ministries!

The Social Concerns Committee follows Jesus’ call to reach out to our brothers and sisters in need (Matthew 25:31) through prayer, advocacy, stewardship, service and collaboration. We are guided by the Catholic principles of social justice.

The Committee is dedicated to all in need within St. John's, the church's community and the world, including those challenged by poverty, homelessness, disability, and injustice. We are involved with the parish Jesse Tree, assistance for families in transitional apartment living, Code Blue, women’s prison ministry, inclusion of parish members with disabilities, and other community needs. In addition, Social Concerns supports the mission of the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in El Salvador.
